'DROP EVERYTHING AND READ' is one of the literacy initiatives introduced by Siddal Moor within Year 7.

'DROP EVERYTHING AND READ' is a national month-long celebration of reading designed to remind people of all ages to make reading a priority activity in their lives.

10 Reading Mentors from Year 9 have also been chosen and will read with the Year 7 students during form time, this will happen 3 times a week with all of the Year 7 forms taking part.

It is hoped that this initiative will promote reading for enjoyment rather than a chore and that the students will come to understand the importance of reading on a daily basis
